Seeking training on Code Compliant LED Fire Exit Signs?

MOVE OVER ENERGY HOARDERS: EXIT SIGN WAREHOUSE DETERMINED TO BE PART OF ECOLOGICAL SOLUTION The National Fire Protection Association of the United States (NFPA) developed a NFPA 101, Life Safety Code. The Code addresses those construction, protection, and occupancy features necessary to minimize danger to life from fire, including smoke, fumes, or panic. Exit sign Warehouse is proud their LED exit signs and fire signs meet this code and are EnergyStar compliant. Exit signs are required to meet specific characteristics, as stated in section 7.10.4 of the Life Safety Code. According to www.energystar.gov, “an exit sign is a sign that is permanently fixed in place and used to identify a means of egress.” For the purposes of qualifying as an EnergyStar, an exit sign must have an illuminated, legally required legend (for example, the words “EXIT”, “TO EXIT”, “FIRE ESCAPE”, “FIRE EXIT”, “TO FIRE EXIT”, etc.) Exit signs must remain illuminated via an emergency power source in case there is a disturbance in the normal power supply. Their power input must be 5 watts or less per sign. For electrically-powered, internally-illuminated signs, any leading power factor is satisfactory. A lagging power factor not less than 0.7 is acceptable. EnergyStar also requires replacement of defective parts for 5 years from date of purchase.

Energy Efficient LED Exit Signs

Energy costs are soaring and the economy continuing to dive-bomb. Procurement of energy efficient products is the easiest way to be cost effective in a harsh financial climate. It is also the “right thing to do” in terms of participating in society: over-usage often leads to grid shutdown and power outages, which can wreak havoc and even be deadly. A single Incandescent exit sign can use up to 40 watts per fixture. Fluorescent exit signs can use up to 25 watts per fixture. By switching to one of Exit Sign Warehouse’s eco-friendly LED exit signs that only use approx. 2-3 watts, citizens are reducing their electric bill up to $40.00 a year per fixture. Business with over 200 fixtures can conceivably save $8000.00 per year. According the US President Barak Obama, “Upgrading the energy efficiency of America’s buildings is one of the fastest, easiest and cheapest ways to save money, cut down on harmful pollution and create good jobs right now...we can’t wait for Congress to act.” Exit Sign Warehouse is taking action by promoting its Energystar emergency LED lights and is announcing a town hall training series on LED fire exit signs.
