LED Cobra Head is your best choice for energy-efficient, environmentally friendly lighting for roads, highways, and thoroughfares. Howard LED Cobra Heads use up to 50% less energy than traditional metal halide fixtures and maintain virtually all their luminosity for the 10+ year life of the light, significantly reducing replacement and maintenance costs. This proprietary photometric design techniques minimize glare and improve nighttime visibility to deliver superior illumination and enhance roadway safety. Cobra Heads are designed to meet all LEED requirements for light pollution reduction credits by minimizing light trespass, reducing sky-glow, and reducing the impact on nocturnal environments. LED Cobra Heads comply with ANSI requirements for side-mounted horizontal luminaires and mount easily on a 1 1⁄4” NPS or 2” NPS arm with ±6o of leveling adjustment. The Cobra Head Luminaire is available with IESNA Type II light distribution pattern, and flat glass or profiled acrylic lens. The LED Cobra Heads possess full cut-off and are Dark Sky friendly.
HOUSING
One-piece cast, aluminum alloy housing with integral slipfitter.
LENS FRAME
One-piece cast, aluminum alloy lens frame. Cast hinges provided for attachment to housing. Corrosion resistant cast trigger latch provided for tool less entry.
MOUNTING
Mounts easily on 1 1⁄4” NPS arm (adapter available for 2” NPS arm). ±6o of leveling and adjustment.
LED MODULES
The LED modules utilize an aluminum metal clad board for maximum heat transfer, resulting in longer life. The modules consist of various secondary optics allowing direction and intensity of the light to be tightly controlled. Control of the LEDs allow Howard fixtures to maintain light levels equal to or greater than that of MH and HPS fixtures at a much lower energy consumption level.
LED DRIVER
Constant current device with a high-power factor correction to maximize power utilization. Meets UL 1310/UL 48 Class 2 with a built- in over-temperature protection. When an optional lightning surge protector is used driver is rated @ 100,000 hours. Input voltage from 100-277 VAC. Input voltage of 480 VAC available with integral transformer. Finish/Color: Finish is polyester powder coat paint, 2.5 mil nominal thickness; A.S.T.M. B-119, 2500 hour salt spray test endurance rating. The standard color is light gray. Custom colors are available, consult factory.
DARK SKY COMPLIANT

HEATSINK/PLATFORM
One-piece cast, aluminum alloy. Effectively spreads heat to ensure long component life of LEDs and electronic components and provides precise alignment of LEDs and lenses.
PHOTO CONTROL
Twist lock photo cell receptacle furnished as standard. Photo cell or shorting cap are optionally available.
LENS
Molded Acrylic lens, profiled for maximum transmission of light. Optionally available with tempered borosilicate flat glass lens.
