Chicago Approved Incandescent Exit Sign Battery Back-up
The ESW-APS-C Incandescent or optional fluorescent lamp AC-only and emergency exit models meet Chicago requirements. Rugged steel signs for wall, ceiling or end mount applications

Housing, Cover and Stencil Face: ESW-APS-C Series exits are constructed of heavy duty steel finished in white baked-on powder paint providing scratch and corrosion resistance. Optional black (-B) finish is available, see Options on front for ordering details.

Letter Size: 6" letters with 3/4" stroke on translucent glass panels Directional Indicators: Full length directional arrows to meet City of Chicago visibility requirements.

AC Light Source: Standard exit face illumination is provided by two candelabra base 15T6 120 volt, 15 watt (-93) incandescent AC lamps. Fluorescent lamp options provide two 7 watt (-79) PL type lamps. Letter brightness and illumination uniformity exceed UL requirements with both incandescent and fluorescent models.

Exit illumination in all models is provided by two 6 volt, 5.4 watt (-25) wedge base incandescent DC lamps. ESW-APS-C combination models with side mounted lighting heads are provided with 6 volt, 12 watt (-08) halogen bi-pin lamps. Lamp Life: Incandescent AC lamps -2,000 hours, Incandescent DC lamps - 100 hours, Fluorescent AC lamps - 10,000 hours (estimated averages)

Wall Mounting: Backplates on single face models are supplied with knockouts for attachment to wall surfaces and standard 31/2" and 4" electrical boxes. Ceiling/End Mounting: Mounting canopies are provided for attachment to standard 31/2" and 4" electrical boxes in ceiling or end mount applications

    AC-Only Emerg. Incandescent Models 30W 40W Double Lamp Fluorescent Models 19W 29W

All models are UL Listed and meet NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NEC, OSHA and City of Chicago codes. Emergency models are UL924 Listed.

Charger Type: All emergency models utilize a fully automatic, temperature compensating, variable rate charger. Utility Input: 120/277VAC, 60 Hz. Temperature Range: 68°F to 86°F (20°C to 30°C) Recharge Duty Cycle: 24 hours Load Transfer: Solid state transfer circuit Controls: Momentary test switch and LED AC-On indicator light Safety Circuitry: AC Lockout: Prevents battery discharge prior to initial unit power-up saving installation time. Low Voltage Battery Disconnect: Protects the battery from being severely damaged by deep discharge during prolonged power failures.

Upon failure of the normal utility power, a solid-state transfer switch automatically activates the DC incandescent emergency lamps providing uninterrupted operation. Emergency illumination will be supplied for a minimum of 120 minutes on emergency models or 90 minutes on combination (-DEH) models. During emergency operation, the exit battery is protected from severe discharge damage by an automatic low voltage disconnect circuit that discontinues unit operation when battery voltage reaches 87.5% of nominal. When normal utility power is restored, the battery is automatically disconnected from the load and a recharging cycle begins that will return the battery to full capacity within 24 hours.

The optional SX self-diagnostics circuit automatically cycles the emergency lighting unit every 25-30 days. The SX circuit checks for battery charging and over charging, battery capacity and reports any system malfunction. By design the SX does not activate the lighting heads, thus avoiding substantial lamp life reduction.
